Selling Merch on Spotify with Merchbar

BandPage is no longer Spotify’s exclusive partner for selling your merchandise and VIP experiences. You can now use Merchbar, which has the largest selection of artist gear on the Internet, to sell your merchandise on Spotify.

The option for selling merch through Spotify is still fairly new in the scope of the company, but it is a vital feature that all artists should be taking advantage of. Given the low percent of royalties that musicians are making of streaming, this new integration now gives independent artists the potential to reach new fans discovering their music through browsing or suggestions, and sell direct to them.

The offering does not stop at just selling merchandise, but popular artists have been selling VIP experiences through Spotify that can be a great revenue generator. For instance, Maroon 5 and George Clinton who have offered to call your voicemail and set your new greeting message for a quick $250. (Not saying this is what we’re suggesting, but the possibilities are endless to offer your fans a special experience!)

Mark Williamson, Director of Artist Services for Spotify, had this to say while speaking with Digital Music News:

“We see a huge opportunity, not only for the artist, but for the fan as well. You can discover your new favorite artist within Spotify. You can explore their catalog, but now you can also check out their merch table. The position that we’re in to do this, with the engagement that we have on Spotify, is unprecedented.”

Spotify continues evolving to encompass a full artist experience for exposing your music. Merchbar offers shirts, socks, and even pineapple leggings from over 35,000 of the world’s artists. Once your merch is listed, top products automatically populate on your Spotify artist page for fans to browse and buy.
