Burning out in the music industry can be avoided by not overworking yourself.

Your talents are special, take time to heal and rest.

Despite the glitter, fame, and luxurious stereotypes that follow the music industry, it is still work. Just like any job, it can become stressful. While some stress is essential to motivate us to work harder than the competition, sometimes too much of it really catches up to us.

Making music, promoting, scheduling new gigs, keeping up with fans… AGHHH! Does the list ever end?! It can all become overbearing if you’re not ready for it. But that’s not why we started this, is it? We didn’t do it for the money, for the fame, for the stress, we did it because it’s our passion.

People choose the music industry because it’s something they love and enjoy, it’s supposed to be FUN and filled with PASSION. So if you find yourself rolling your eyes at the mere thought of enjoying yourself in this line of work, you might be overdue for a vacation or other form of stress reliever. Work is hard, music shouldn’t be.

How do you know if you’re too burnt out?

Maybe you’ve just been overcommitting yourself. Are you always saying yes and agreeing to plans you later find yourself dreading? Are you avoiding the simplest and seemingly enjoyable tasks? Or spending too many sleepless nights out at pre release parties? No one knows you better than yourself.

Here’s our top tips on how to avoid burning out:

1. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and hire some professionals.

2. Make some time for sleep too and have an overall healthy lifestyle.

3. Take some time to relax and for practicing self love!

4. Be grateful and stay humble! Don’t let the work and fame get to your head.

So while you may feel pressured to always be working, it’s important to give yourself a well deserved break. Nobody became a rock star overnight! Things as simple as practicing yoga, going on a walk, taking a long hot bath, etc…are easy ways to give yourself a moment to relax and take time to soak in the moment. Remember, its okay to take and step back and breathe…you got this!
