Symphonic has teamed up with MetaPop to turn “Fan Remixes” into brand new revenue opportunities for labels.

Today there are millions of fan remixes that are not being monetized by original rights holders. Remixes made by fans are taken down haphazardly by “anti-piracy” services with no regard for the value they create. Creativity is stifled and money is lost.

MetaPop is turning this “crowd-sourced” remix behavior into a win-win situation through an innovative and unprecedented licensing model; allowing labels to create entirely additive revenue, increase marketshare, and broaden their audience.

Rights Holders Make Money
Adding your catalog to the MetaPop Marketplace exposes your music to the greatest remixers in the world. These remixers have the ability to select songs from your pre-cleared catalog to create new remixes, and you’ll earn 70% of revenue generated on networks like YouTube and SoundCloud – plus you’ll have the ability to “upstream” particularly great remixes to services with higher profit margins, such as Apple Music/iTunes, Spotify, and Beatport.

How Does It Work?
In short, MetaPop tracks your fan remixes across the web, monetizes them on our networks, promotes your music and the fan remixes to drive engagement, and distributes to you 70% of all revenue collected. Fan remixers get 15% of all revenue.

Each remix created by a MetaPop user is published to MetaPop’s exclusive networks on YouTube and SoundCloud, where all songs are measured and monetized for both you and the remixer. And the process continues for any tracks delivered to iTunes, Spotify, and other services. This way, you’re certain that each play is being tracked, monetized and reported to you properly.

In turn, you designate MetaPop the exclusive monetizer and distributor of fan remixes of your content, deliver your catalog metadata and keep it current, and whitelist the MetaPop multi-channel networks on YouTube and SoundCloud.


How do I get involved with MetaPop through Symphonic?
It’s simple! First, opt-in by simply selecting MetaPop through the SymphonicMS partners section. Your metadata and materials will be delivered to the MetaPop team to begin the process of monetizing your remixes as well as ensuring the original rights holders are compensated.

REMIX COMPETITIONS
“Remix This”
… is a new way for labels to promote their music, reach the hottest remixers online, make money from those remixes and generate new revenue across a variety of music destinations. We are helping to reconceptualize classic tracks for a new generation and building a new fan base for engagement.

How Does It Work?
The label selects a track to promote and deliver that track’s stems to MetaPop for promotional purposes. When the campaign launches, the stems are offered for free to all registered MetaPop users.

The label agrees that at least one remix will be selected for distribution through MetaPop to all commercial music services. MetaPop provides marketing and promotional support for your Remix Competition on blogs, Facebook ads, direct e-mail and more at no cost to the label. Remixers are only authorized to upload their remixes to MetaPop and MetaPop auto publishes all remixes to YouTube. Label then selects at least one remix for further distribution. Winning remixes are distributed to all commercial music services through Symphonic.

“Remix Me”
MetaPop has a self-service remix competition platform called Remix Me, where you can start your own FREE contests to encourage fans to upload their remixes of a song. Remix competitions are a great way to promote a new single, discover a new genre-bending take on your original song, or breathe new life into one of your classic tracks. And remember, every remix uploaded to the MetaPop platform is automatically published to YouTube and SoundCloud so you can start earning right away!
