How to Better Organize Your Social Media

As a musician today, it is important to be involved in social media websites and apps.  However, keeping track of your accounts can become tedious and confusing.  Below are a couple different methods for keeping it all organized.

Method 1
This is probably the easier one of the two: Combine.

Nowadays, different social media websites and apps allow you to sync your accounts.  For example, when you make a post on Instagram, the app will give you the option to share it on a range of other social media website, like Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr.  This now commonplace feature enables you to share the same information across many different websites, saving you time and energy.

By setting up your differnet social media accounts to sync, you can increase your consistency of information and connect with more fans at once.  Posting regularly is also important for maintaining followers.  Depending on your schedule (and amount of information and content you have to share), try posting once a day or at least once a week, on weekends, or anywhere in-between.

Method 2
This one takes more time and attention, but can pay off in the long run: individualize.

A good way to begin is to divide up your accounts and determine what your purpose is for each. For instance, Twitter might be best for posting short, personal tweets throughout the day, while Facebook is best to use for posting links to your music and other other outside content.

In order to be really effective, try organizing your accounts on a Sunday-through-Saturday calendar.  This will help to ensure that you are active online each day, no matter how small or large the interaction is.  This is important for keeping contact with fans, and communicating with them online helps to build more personal relationships.  But be careful to not over-post; you don’t want to annoy your followers.  One way to organize yourself on a weekly basis is to post to Twitter daily, Facebook on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and weekends, Instagram once a week (or as you have shows, music videos, etc.), and the list goes on.

These are just a couple of different sample methods for organizing your social media websites and apps. Feel free to modify them to fit your style. Keep in mind, consistency makes it easier for your fans to follow, and thoughtful posts are important for creating a sense of sincerity.
