EH Midia Review: JotForm

Post by Eliezer Hofstaetter, head of EH Midia and the labels it represents.

So, why exactly would you need a form builder? I'm not here to tell you why you should, I'll explain you how are you wasting time and work you could save by using forms.

First of all, when it comes to a form builder the first thing you may think is using them for online polls, contact forms and subscription forms, right? Yes, it definitely works for that, as we all know, sometimes the internet is an hostile territory, where your pages and e-mail addresses are constant victims of spams and hacks, so, how to prevent people from subscribing you to infinite e-mail lists without you knowing it? Bingo, contact forms, you just hide your e-mail addresses and you include a few fields asking stuff like name, e-mail address, maybe a phone number and some other stuff, and that's all. There is really no need for (and I actually don't recommend) you to share your e-mail addresses on the internet where literally anyone can find it. You can make it simple, and just ask the e-mail address if you're creating an e-mail listing, a newsletter or something, or you can make it something more spesific and ask questions about your friends and family, about your clients or fans, so you can have a better insight about their routines, preferences and desires.

But there is so much more you can do with a form builder, at least JotForm allows you to do much more with your forms than you can even imagine. I'll use our work as example but I'm sure you can apply the techniques to any segment of business.

How do you think labels, artists, radio and YouTube channels, music promotion companies and many more out there receive music submissions? Sure, some of them just share an e-mail address and ask you to submit music there, not a big deal for you, if you are the one submitting the song. But what if you are, let's say, a label manager and you get dozens of submissions per day? Or hundreds of submissions? You've downloaded the files and now you like one of them, the one called "Mushiruumu.mp3" but you have no idea which e-mail you should respond.. or worst, you lost the e-mail and all you have as reference is that odd name in the file that most likely it's the producer's cat name. It's so much easier for you to just create a submission form and ask every information you need in order to people submit you their stuff there, like.. name, contact information, file name, track genre (if you're receiving music files) and much more. Better than just telling you how, I'll show you, take a look here http://www.eh-midia.com/p/demo-track-submission.html, there are a lot of fields there, of course, but that's information we actually need in order to save us work and any extra trouble in the future, and trust me, it works, I can download the filled form and name it after the mp3 file, so every music file will have its information attached.
I've seen a lot of submission forms like this, and actually the inspiration came from those forms from our partners, any stablished or non-stablished artist, company, label, etc.. can create a great form with just a few simple steps, but of course, I'm talking about JotForm, because I never used any other service and to be honest, there's no need to.

We have many submission forms like this one, very similar, some are smaller, some are specific for information, some are meant for artists send us their information and profile picture... but they all have a single feature in common, they're simple to manage, to edit, to create and modify.. we even use JotForm for our website sections, just like here, right below the slider, is JotForm you see there http://www.eh-midia.com/, we use it also in our pages because it much simpler
to manage and modify than css and html stuff, we can go through them quickly and change every section in a short time, it's perfect for us, because our pages demand constant updates.

You can still think is hard to set up forms in JotForm, but it's not, you can even copy a form available on the internet, like ours, as example, and modify them with your logo and preferences, and if you happen to have any truoble doing it, you can always count with a very responsive support team, you can use the forum section, and you'll be able to solve any issue within just a few minutes, no, I'm serious, minutes.. that's all it takes for you to get help in the most cases (if your issue wasn't solved yet by another user).

With all that said, I'm sure that you will ,at least, give JotForm a try, it's worth it... or you can just keep sharing your e-mail addresses on internet, because I'm sure that works for you too. My intention wasn't to tell you what to do, I'm just sharing my perspective and experience, trying to help, in any case, it's your call, you can decide what to do with you music career, business, etc... The tools you use and the way you use, are up to you, but remember, keep up the hard work and research, there's always something new you can learn, even from an informal post like this one.

I hope I have helped in some way and I'm available for any questions, feel free to get in touch any time using (haha) our contact form. CLICK HERE.
